Lets face it – the archive of product from adidas Originals is like a sneaker Damascus – there are a plethora of models available, many of which have gone on to become sporting and cultural icons both.
Sneaker connoisseurs are often spoilt for choice when it comes to re-issues of older, iconic models but The Unforeseen pack from adidas Consortium flips this on its head with some of the archives most sought after silhouettes re-worked with special materials and features to create a collection of truly unforeseen kicks.
First up in drop one of the pack is a re-interpretation of arguably one of the most classic and desirable signature basketball shoes that was ever released by adidas and pre-empted the signature shoe craze as far back as 1978.
The Non-Dyed comes correct with a buttery, premium, full-grain leather upper that is soft, supportive and extremely comfortable. The pebbled, white midsole will be instantly recognisable to die hard basketball sneaker fanatics while the herringbone outsole is still perfectly suited for perfecting your sky hook in the paint if your headed for the courts rather than the streets. Branding is minimal and limited to the contrast stitched 3-Stripes and an embossed Trefoil on the tongue.

Following on from the influx of last seasons adidas Originals Consortium make-ups, Rod’s OG signature vintage shoe makes a welcome return for the upcoming SS10 season in a variety of colourways.
Once again we see the original, slimmed down silhouette, re-interpreted first up by the Laver lovers at DQM in New York City.
Chris and the DQM crew prove simple is best again with three variations that will work in a range of scenarios, from denim to shorter options for the fast approaching warmer months.
This version sees a combination of leather and mesh on the upper, which, shorn of the 3-Stripes only adds to the simple, clean appeal of the model.
Despite the lack of embellishments, the use of quality leather on the tongue, toe-box and heel-tab as well as touches like the suede strip for the lace-stays ensures the all-over, premium feel we’ve come to expect from Consortium releases.
Further features include the Trefoil and DQM logos embossed on the tongue, the Consortium handshake label on the heel, herringbone outsole, Consortium branded eyelets and DQM lace tips with a lace flip to boot.

Linked thematically but often totally different in their silhouettes, shapes and purpose, during the ’70s and ’80s, adidas managed to represent for any key city you care to name on a round-the-world naming mission of sorts. The different waves, from defiantly European, low-slung creations, to chunkier, technical North American drops travelled even further afield over two decades. For winter 2009, the ‘Your City’ Consortium collection from adidas Originals is unique in its offering. Whereas previous collaborative projects might focus on a single shoe, here’s twelve different models, handed to twelve key Consortium retailers, on an appropriately worldwide scale. That means a unique set of makeups on a brace of shoes that transcend time periods and technologies, from the super simple, to the incredibly detailed, set to drop in three waves.
‘Your City’ encapsulates leisure, running and training designs within one loose brief - represent for your city using the model that bears it’s name. Nothing fuels creativity like local pride. The sole stipulation was to incorporate at least one colour from the original makeup of the shoe into your reworking to complement the source material.
Creative freedom paid off, as crews from Oslo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Milan, London, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto and Tokyo re-envisioned these legendary creations, on the shoe that carries their locale, often embellishing their favourite elements, occasionally stripping them down, but always in the knowledge that they’re reworking some truly sacred sneakers.
